Bowl-game goodies are pretty good

A couple of weeks ago I was running down River Road in Athens, which connects the football stadium with the East Village dorms at the University of Georgia. I started hearing whooping and hollering behind me, and then 10 or 12 guys in football warmups came zooming past me on mountain bikes. After reading a story in the Atlanta paper, I figured out that the players got the bikes from the Sugar Bowl. According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, the NCAA raised the value of permissible gifts from bowls from $350 to $500.

The UGa players are probably mad that kids from the U. of Michigan and the U. of Nebraska got Xbox 360s for playing in the Alamo Bowl.
