CLA projections on future FBS and Power 5 spending

The Knight Commission engaged CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen), a national professional services firm, to analyze future FBS and Power 5 spending with more than a billion of new revenues flowing into their programs as early as 2026 due to the expansion of the College Football Playoff (CFP) and, for Big Ten and SEC programs, increased conference media revenues. CLA’s projections are reflected in the following three graphs that focus on the growth of coaching salaries compared to student aid, and the projected growth of head and assistant football coaches severance pay.
